Yay for MEP Math!

We LOVE our new math program. It is a program from Hungary that has been translated to English for use in UK schools. It is so much fun to do, and in just a few days the girls went from "aww do we have to?" to "Can we do Math first?!"

It is just very complete, with the concepts coming at you from every possible angle. Audio, visual, tactile, traditional paper/pencil. They use conceptual math, drill based math, symbolic math, all in perfect digestive bites per lesson. They delivery through play, movement, story problems, traditional formulas, blackboard/shared work and independant work. The main premise is to utilize all your senses and processing tools on every concept so it is easy to digest... while learning technical terms so that they become innate. For example, movement time might involve moving your arms vertical or horizontal, "Simon Says" style.

I usually have my hands pretty full doing the grade two curriculum with Eliana and Sasha. Here are a few pictures from Malia doing her math though.
