Judo

Last night was Eliana's first time joining Judo, she did pretty good!

Learning back falls

Sitting perfectly in seiza

Though sometimes she got a little distracted...

Practicing her back fall

Learning to roll

Learning to tap out

And also exciting last night, Malia had her belt test and passed! She is now a yellow belt!

Here she is demonstrating O Goshi during her test

Waiting for her sensei to return (she didn't know she had passed the test, I'm not even sure she knew she was testing)

Here she was rising, and noticing the yellow belt in hand

Bowing to her Sensei

Putting her new belt on

Throwing us a proud glance

Here the girls are practicing together, Malia has Eliana in guard

"Dad, you can draw anything!"

Eliana: "Dad, will you draw me a princess?"
Dathan: "Not right now, I just got home and I don't really feel like drawing a princess right now"
Eliana: "But Dad, you can draw ANYTHING you want to"
Dathan: smiles and agrees to draw her something, taking the pen and paper from her.
Eliana "but Dad, I really want you to draw a princess."
Dathan: "you do, do you?"
Eliana: "Yes, but not a Judo princess. A princess with a long dress and a crown"

Guess "anything" is a subjective term...

Sasha-isms

Recently Sasha was playing a game on webkinz.com where you attempt to click on and release all the "good fairies" from the flowers, while leaving the bad fairies inside. When you release a bad fairy by mistake it has an evil "hahaha" laugh. So Sasha calls it the "hahaha" game. The other day she told me "I like the BAAAAD fairies!" and it just cracked me up. Leave it to Sasha to disregard what wins and what pays money to do what she finds more entertaining on a personal level.

I think he favorite food is Cheese Enchiladas. The girl can eat an adult meals of enchiladas at a restaurant. The other day we went out to eat after a long time of not going out. When told Sasha immediately said "Can I get Enchi-ya-ya's?" I was surprised she even remembered, and just thought her pronunciation was adorable.

this girl is an independent girl, and she challenges it all. The other day I explained why she couldn't drink my tea because "this one has caffeine". A minute later after I'd grown distracted I hear "sluuuurp. That is good caffeine!" not only did she have to try the drink for herself, but she had to include loud sound effects and a proclamation of her choice to do what she was asked not to. What a ride life is with her... she keeps it funny, that is for sure!

Reading Simple Words...

Eliana is reading simple 3 and 4 letter words! It happened so fast, and I was really unprepared for it. She started with memorizing cat, so I asked her what word it would be if I replaced the "C" with a "S"... we went through a whole series of words she was able to sound out and read from there.

WTG Eliana, won't be long until she is reading her own books like her big sister!

Little Techie

Sasha is quite entertaining on the computer these days. She took to it real fast, I showed here how to control the mouse once and just took off.

Now she is downloading random things, figuring out how to run programs to which I've removed all the shortcuts to, and doesn't let any error message slow her down.

She is actually quite good with the computer...

Three Cheers for Eliana!

We have this little bike without pedals that Eliana has been using to roll down the hill next to us, lifting her feet off the ground as she glides.

We noticed how well she was doing it yesterday and on a whim Dathan and I decided to take her training wheels off her pedal bike.

We took the pedals off and we prepared to teach her to ride a two wheeler. Before we could begin any instruction, Eliana started pedaling and rode right off. It was amazing.

So, we now officially have two kids in the family riding two wheelers! Way to go, Eliana!

I am sure there will be more pictures to come after this winter storm passes through!

Sasha Firsts & Snow

This morning Sasha was at the table drawing with the girls and brought me her first detailed drawings. To date we've had motions and designs, but never a specific shaped drawing.

First she asked me to draw a heart and then colored it in

Then she brought me a card she made. She said it was a girl and her mama. AWWW!!! The black "colored in" part is where she colored in the dresses, so you can probably make out the rest from there.

A couple weeks ago we got a mild snow fall, and Sasha made and threw her first snowball. Right at Eliana's head.

A few others from our snowfall:
"tah-dahh!"

Malia modeling her "cherry print bag" a friend of mine made her-

Sure... I think that is sanitary... sure....

and that as well...

more "clean" snow...

Got to love this smile!

Big jump (another first- jumping off elevated spaces)

Can't really tell, but she hit a branch and the snow fell off at her-

If You Get a Balloon...

You should give it a pillow, cover its string with a blankie and read it a story. Naturally.

And below Sasha displays proper protocal for scary movies:

Webkinz

Sorry I haven't been updating as I should. I have to fight for a turn on the computer these days. I think our family is about to need more computers. According to the girls, they each need their own so they can play games together.

The girls are fully invested in webkinz pets right now, they can't get enough of these little furry creatures. Basically, you buy the cute little stuffed animals and you play with them online. That seems to be a real winning combination for these girls.

Malia has a Chihuahua named Zoey and a pink pony named Zara. Eliana has a white kitten named Coco and a white unicorn on the way. Sasha has a monkey and a duck. I imagine we've only just begun.

What do Butterflies Eat?

According to Ana, butter!

A couple shots

here are a couple shots from when my Dad was visiting.

And one of Dathan's mom with Malia, I thought it was really sweet :)

Silly Ana

I was taking pictures of Sasha's hair and Eliana wanted me to take her picture, so I said she could do whatever she wanted. This is what I got.

Here is one of her from 2ish years ago... she

Peas!

How I wish I had my fire wire installed to upload this video of Sasha. We all know Sasha loves peas... well, she found a new purpose for them.

She sticks them up her nose, pushes the other nostril in with her finger and BLOWS them out across the table.

I think I might have to go get it installed just to share this video... she is such a nut.

Malia Funny

The other day I was reading an article about Obama and Malia asked me what I was reading... I explained. I told her that he was running for president and that he had 2 daughters named Malia and Sasha- which tickled her. She decided that if she could vote, she would vote for him... having cool daughters and all.

A little while later I hear her talking to her little sister about it. After explaining the names and why she wanted him to be president she said "Do you know what a president is?" ::pause:: "if you want to take a trip, and you don't know where to go... you go to them to help you decide. President."

I about fell out of my chair. We've been over kings, emperors, and presidents many times over... I suppose when you are learning so many new things each day they sometimes overlap.

More Hair Cuts

Believe it or not, it has happened again. You'd think I'd learn to keep the scissors under lock and key... but with homeschooling it is a rare day that we don't use them for some project- so they are often out.

Eliana and Sasha this time... yes, Sasha. Sasha will be going in next weekend for her very own bob. So it looks like that is just the official "Camacho girl" haircut. Sasha was by no means an innocent bystander, I'm quite positive she gave full consent. She has been saying her hair is to long for awhile, I was just secretly hoping she would change her mind.

Eliana on the other hand said she wanted to cut it so they could go back to the salon and get another hair cut. Apparently she forgot about the asking concept. haha.

I didn't set out to make sure and get a before picture, but this picture happens to show off the lengths it was before and Eliana's cut. She is helping me smash beans here :)

And here it is now, from the side:

More from the front:

It was cooperating this day, but most days her hair has a little to much wave to pull it off. It ends up looking messy with pieces looping this way and that. But she loves it, so what can I say?

Beautiful Day!

yesterday was such a beautiful day outside! *I* wasn't even cold... and that is saying something.

I was having fun taking pictures and decided to lay in one place and only take shots that came to me. It was kind of fun! I only cropped and resized for web, so some colors are off and it was obviously shot in full sun.

lunchtime

cracking herself up as she "chalks" my knee

finally back on to the sidewalk

Trying to fill my lens

giving me a glance as she walks by

"What do you mean bad hair day?!"

"Airplane" where you can see my mens socks in all of their mismatched glory.

Showing off that beautiful gap again!

How DO they sit like that?

Toothless Wonder!!

Malia lost her first tooth. She is just really tickled with it to. She was so anxious for it to fall out, it seemed to take forever.

Here are a few shots of her lovely gap :)

Being silly-

A little more serious-

Been Busy!

I haven't been doing well updating the blog lately. We've been rathter busy. First the best friend a girl could wish for came to visit me. We had a riot, and I'm sorry- but Christine you will just have to come again since I forgot to take pictures :) Then Grandma came to town, which was so much fun. The girls loved seeing her. My Dad also came for a quick and unexpected visit, and the girls were delighted to see Paka.

Malia is reading up a storm now, and any spare moments we have are often used listening to her read. Between general mothering and school work and house work, I haven't found much time for uploading pictures or blogging.

While I was gone I DID learn what happens when you turn the wrong burner on and leave peanut butter on said burner though.

But things seem to be settling down a tad, and I will try and keep up.

Three New Bears

The girls got three new teddy bears from Build-A-Bear last week, and I took pictures of the whole event for my brother and his wife who sent them the gift cards but weren't able to be there to see it themselves.
